Sophie Sandberg is a gender justice activist, multimedia artist and educator.

In 2016, she created the popular initiative Catcalls of NYC, a platform that shares verbatim stories of street harassment with colorful chalk art. She founded Chalk Back, an international youth-led movement consisting of 1000 activists on 6 continents. Her work with Catcall of NYC and Chalk Back has been featured in the New York Times, BBC, CCN, NBC, and others. 

Sophie facilitates public art events and workshops on topics of gender justice. She has presented her work to students at Juilliard University, Pratt University, University of Maryland, and Stuyvesant High School, among many others. She has given talks at UNESCO's headquarters, and facilitated various events for UN Women and UN Girls’ Education Initiative.

Through her practice, Sophie tackles various issues including tech-facilitated gender-based violence, mental health, and community care.
